Getting Your Boerboel Puppy Home to New Jersey
New Jersey families are close enough to pick up in person, which we always encourage. A same-day trip lets you meet the adult dogs, ask questions face to face and drive your puppy home yourself. If pickup does not work, private ground transportation can be discussed.
Raising a Boerboel in New Jersey
Much of New Jersey is suburban, with smaller yards, close neighbors and busy roads. A Boerboel does well there with solid fencing, daily structured exercise and good manners on leash, because a 150 lb dog pulling toward the neighbor's dog is everyone's problem. Start early. HomeStart begins the leash and handling work, and our training FAQ covers what comes next.
New Jersey Dog Laws and the Boerboel
New Jersey's dangerous-dog law is written to override local breed rules. N.J.S.A. 4:19-36 says the state act supersedes "any law, ordinance, or regulation concerning vicious or potentially dangerous dogs, any specific breed of dog, or any other type of dog" passed by a municipality, county or local board of health that conflicts with it. HOAs, landlords and insurers are separate, so check their rules too.
Laws change, and this is general information, not legal advice. Our Boerboel ownership costs and laws FAQ covers insurance and housing questions in more detail.
What Comes With Every Cold River Puppy
Every Cold River puppy goes through Cold River HomeStart™, our early foundation program: crate and leash introduction, handling, household routines and socialization with people and animals. Puppies go home with a 16-month health guarantee and lifetime breeder support. Families who want more structured training before go-home can add the optional Cold River StrongStart™ program.
Performance is how we measure the breed. Cold River's Sun Wukong and Cold River's Mr. Wednesday have each pulled 22,039 lb in UPF competition. The results and sources are on our world record page.
